Eight pawns each have a place in front of the eight major pieces on a chessboard.

Metalworker, Physician, Farmer, City Guard, Moneychanger, Notary, Tavern Owner, Messenger are some of the names used. A unique stamp was created for each piece, and two books made from mixed media drawing and painting.

        The binding is sewn on linen cords, with shaped wood boards painted to refer to a page in the book.  5 3/4” x 15” x 7/8”.
